Prohibited and restricted items

  • Adult material - No adult material is allowed at this time.
  • Alcohol - No sales of alcohol is allowed.
  • Art - All art must be fully listed as "original", "copy", "replica", which best describes the artwork.
  • Artifacts, grave-related items, and Native American arts and crafts - You must abide by your State and Federal regulations regarding any of these items.
  • Catalytic converters and test pipes - Used catalytic converters are not allowed.
  • Cell phone (wireless) service contracts - Wireless contracts are not allowed.
  • Charity and fundraising - With only prior approval of Free.Auction.
  • Clothing, used - Must be clean and serviceable. Listing must indicate as such.
  • Contracts - Not allowed.
  • Cosmetics - Must be new and unopened.
  • Counterfeit currency and counterfeit stamps - Not allowed.
  • Coupons - Not allowed.
  • Credit cards - Not allowed.
  • Currency, selling - Only collector currency is allowed. This is bills and coins which are no longer in circulation. No counterfeits or "replica" allowed.
  • Drugs and drug paraphernalia - Not allowed.
  • Electronics equipment - examples include cable TV de-scramblers, radar scanners, and traffic signal control devices are not allowed.
  • Embargoed goods and prohibited countries - examples include items from Cuba & Iran. Not allowed.
  • Firearms, weapons, and knives - examples include pepper spray, replicas, and stun guns not allowed (see also military items)
  • Food - Storable/stable shelf life food is permitted. Perishables are not allowed. Must be sealed and unopened.
  • Gift cards - Not allowed.
  • Government documents, IDs and licenses - Not allowed.
  • Government, transit, and shipping-related items - examples include airplane operations manuals, subway employee uniforms, and U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mailbags - Not allowed.
  • Hazardous, restricted or regulated materials, example: Fireworks and refrigerants are not allowed. Batteries are allowed and must comply with shipping carrier policies.
  • Human remains and body parts - Not allowed.
  • Importation of goods into the US - examples include CDs intended only for distribution in a certain country - Not allowed.
  • International trading - Not allowed.
  • Items encouraging illegal activity - examples include an eBook describing how to create methamphetamine.
  • Lock picking devices
  • Lottery tickets - Not allowed.
  • Mailing lists and personal information - Not allowed.
  • Medical drugs, devices, and healthcare - examples include prescription drugs, contact lenses, pacemakers, and surgical instruments - Not allowed.
  • Military items (see also firearms and weapons) - Not allowed. Historical collector items are ok.
  • Multi-level marketing, pyramid and matrix programs  - Not allowed.
  • Offensive material - examples include ethnically or racially offensive material and Nazi memorabilia.  Stamps, currency, and historically accurate model kits are acceptable. United States historical flags are acceptable.
  • Pesticides - Not allowed.
  • Plants and seeds - Must obey state and federal laws for both parties.
  • Police-related items - No official uniforms or reproductions. No badges, stars or shields allowed.
  • Political memorabilia (reproduction) - Must be listed as "original", "copy", "replica", which best describes the memorabilia.
  • Postage meters - Not allowed.
  • Real estate - You can post real estate, property for sale.
  • Recalled items - Not allowed.
  • Slot machines - Not allowed.

  • Software - Software is allowed, however software which can be used for Fraud through the criminal use of a computer or the Internet such as “Hacking” in which a perpetrator uses technological tools to remotely access a protected computer or system or through the interception of an electronic transmission unintended for the interceptor, such as passwords, credit card information, or other types of identity theft is not allowed.

  • Stamps - Collector stamps allowed.
  • Stocks and other securities - Not allowed.
  • Stolen property - Not allowed.
  • Surveillance equipment - examples include wiretapping devices and telephone bugging devices which possession of would be considered illegal by Federal law.
  • Tobacco - Not allowed.
  • Travel packages, or travel services - Not allowed.
